In late 2018, Steve Bannon, previously Donald Trump's chief strategist, visited the UK to deliver a address at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The event was disrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Activists delayed my talk I doubt I can make the plane we are heading to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "That. Is a Gulf Air that leaves at 950 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "U r an amazing helper".

These messages were released on Wednesday alongside over 20,000 documents from the records of Epstein, the deceased financier convicted of sex crimes.

The disclosure by the House oversight committee contains an iMessage chat where Bannon's name is withheld. The BBC has been able to establish his identity by cross-referencing the timeline, events, and locations referenced.

For example, Epstein discusses chartering a plane from the UK for the redacted user in the messages, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon participated in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and gave the talk at the Oxford on November 16.

Bannon, who faces no allegations of any wrongdoing, declined to comment on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as the president's closest advisers in the run up to the 2016 election and during the initial phase of his first administration, but stepped down from the administration in 2017.

He has acknowledged he was making a film about Epstein prior to his passing and allegedly has approximately 15 hours of recordings. In a recording of his show earlier this year, he said: "We're going to release the series, the multi-part documentary, next year - at the start of next year."

But the newly released materials suggest Bannon's connection with Epstein went further than being his biographer, with the convicted paedophile occasionally seeming to act like a aide.

A few days prior to the exchange in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "how does it feel to have the most highly paid booking agent in history ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "You are quite capable assistant", to which Epstein replied "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "AD" in another message, Epstein told Bannon: "I will ensure you are well looked after."

UK Politics Mentioned in Exchanges

The released messages also show Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in that year.

On the day of his speech at the Oxford, Bannon texted Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the Brexit issue this morning with Nigel, Boris and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a allusion to the UK prime minister, the struggling British leader at the period, he added: "They are attempting to move on. May soon…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "I think remaining as much as you can uk. Best-- so others get the commitment of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Will Theresa May survive". Bannon replied: "I don't see how however the guys over here have no balls" and added "Boris ; Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; Davis - someone has to take charge".

May was finally removed in 2019 after withstanding two votes of no confidence in late 2018.

A representative for the political party informed the BBC: "Nigel Farage has not been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting occurred.

The Congress will vote soon on whether the Department of Justice should release all its files concerning its probe into Epstein, who died in jail in 2019.

Interest in Epstein's associations with powerful figures was renewed recently after the release of over 20,000 pages from his archives.

A portion of those mentioned the former president, who has consistently denied any impropriety. The leader was a friend of Epstein's for years, but claims they parted ways in the 2000s, two years before Epstein was first arrested.
